NYC’s Association of Performing Arts Professionals: A Pentacle Recap!

For the first time since January 2020, Pentacle returned in-person to APAP NYC+ 2023. “The nucleus of a New York citywide explosion of live performance, this magnetic performing arts industry gathering drew professionals from across the continent and globe.”

PENTACLE ACROSS APAP . . .

Sandy Garcia, Director of Booking, spoke as a panelist on the session Building More Equity in Contracting, advocating for more equitable and ethical terms in engagement contracts. “If that clause doesn’t work for you, change the clause.” Resources shared during this session can be located here.

Pentacle’s Roster artists filled New York City Center Studio 4 with seven in-person showcases on Saturday and Pentacle’s ASP artists (Administrative Support Program) filled the house with nine in-person showcases on Sunday during the conference. Additionally, there are 10 Roster and 7 ASP virtual showcases available for online viewing on the Imagine Dance Festival website through February 28th. Watch them now!

Pentacle staff could also be found at the Dance Community Roundtable, the Women of Color in the Arts‘ Friday morning convening, and at several showcases supporting our incredible program artists!

Roster HeaderShowcasing with the Dance Manager’s Collective at APAP NYC+ 2023

This year, the Pentacle Roster showcased our artists during APAP thanks to the ongoing support of the Dance Managers Collective (DMC) for in-person and virtual showcasing. While our live showcase at New York City Center wrapped Saturday January 14, our virtual showcasing will be available until February 28! Interested in showcasing with the DMC (live or virtual) in 2024? You can email intern@elsieman.org to get on the list of interested parties.

The Urban Assembly School of Performing Arts has been an Education & Outreach partner since 2018, with Leah teaching Ballet to 9th-12th graders. 30+ Artists being served by Pentacle via Dance/NYC’s Dance Advancement Fund!

Since July, Pentacle has partnered with Dance/NYC to offer Financial Care to 30+ recipients of the Dance Advancement Fund. Pentacle’s support includes individual financial assessments and direct fiscal administrative support to each artist in the areas of need that they identify.
