Art Bridgman and Myrna Packer of Bridgman | Packer Dance will be guest Fellows at Experimental Film Virginia’s Harbor for the Arts Festival in Cape Charles, Virginia in August. They will conduct a two week dance on camera workshop and will work in residency on their new piece, “Truck”, which will premiere during the festival on August 16th. The piece requires the audience to gaze through the bed of a U-Haul truck – the performance platform in which the duo will perform, amidst live and projected film. The various overlapping bodies and images converse with each other, creating a micro-world of visions and transformations. The performance on the 16th will take place at intervals from 9pm to midnight.

Then from Wednesday, August 20 through Saturday, August 23, LeeSaar The Company will perform their work “Grass and Jackals” at Jacob’s Pillow. Led by director/writer Lee Sher and dancer/choreographer Saar Harari, this diverse company of dancers from Taiwan, Korea, the United States, Malaysia, Canada, and Israel are perfect guides for a tour of global hyperconnectivity. Their new work is a spectacle of dance and light that pushes physical and emotional boundaries of both the dancers and the audience. Described by The New York Times as “never less than remarkable to watch,” the company continues down a path of artistic discovery with this piece, as they explore the disorientating beauty of the rapidity of life, and the connections between emotional extremes, sensations, and bodies in space. Performances are at 8:15pm, with additional matinees at 2:15pm on August 23rd and 24th.
