Cultivating Leadership in Dance (CLD) will successfully conclude its Spring session on May 1st. This latest group of interns accomplished 600 hours of work for five organizations with tasks ranging from archival projects and development research, to aid with tour management, production preparation, and collaboration on website development. Our popular Summer session will run from June 3rd – July 26th. The submission period from interns is now closed, but dance organizations and companies are encouraged to apply. (See below for details).
Here are a few examples of recent successful matches resulting from CLD internships:
- Esther Berman, an intern in our Fall 2012 session, was matched with DanceNYC. Towards the end of the program, New York City Arts Coalition came to Pentacle with a job opening. We recommended three of our intern alumni, one of them being Esther. After interviewing all three candidates, NYC Arts Coalition hired Esther as their new part time employee.
- Leah Cernosek interned in the program during our Summer 2012 session. She was matched with Peter Kyle Dance. Upon the end of the program, she remained working with Peter and continues to work for him as an independent contractor. Leah also works part time for Janis Brenner who was part of the program in the past and came to Pentacle to find an administrator.
- Samantha Lim, an intern in the Fall 2012 session, was matched with The Dance Enthusiast. Upon completion of her internship she was hired as a freelance writer. They continue to work together now and have found a great working relationship. Christine Jowers of The Dance Enthusiast has said many times that their matching was “magic”.
