Pentacle’s Cultivating Leadership in Dance provides an unparalleled opportunity for interns to learn the ins-and-outs of arts administration while working directly under the artistic director of a dance company or administrative manager of an organization. Pentacle interviews both the interns and participating artists/organizations in order to find out what each would like to accomplish, creating a program experience that is rewarding and useful to intern and company alike.
We are now accepting applications for the Spring 2015 Session, which will take place from March 16th- May 8th. This is an 8-week program, where interns work with the company/organization for 10 hours each week. In addition to this hands-on experience, interns will take part in weekly seminars that are lead by guest speakers who are involved in the arts community in various capacities. Previous seminars have included discussions on marketing through social media, dance on camera/video dance, development and fundraising, fiscal and budgeting, dance writing, and representation/booking. The session culminates with a fundraiser that the interns organize and produce, where proceeds are split between the interns to act as a stipend. If desired by both parties, an extension can be granted once the internship has ended which allows the intern to continue their work. In some cases, interns sign on long-term and become employees with their company/organization!
