STEPHANIE Peña & DANCERS!
Teen contemporary dance students capture a joyful moment as they gather for a selfie with their Pentacle Teaching Artist, Stephanie Peña, backstage after their recital. RISEBORO’S AFTER-SCHOOL STUDENTS SHINE! ⭐
Despite their young age, P.S. 86’s 2nd-4th graders exhibit remarkable strength and courage! In June, a group of thirty boys and girls assembled in the auditorium of a Bushwick school to proudly demonstrate their step dance skills before an audience of parents, community members, teachers, and friends.
Solomon Goodwin, a Pentacle Teaching Artist, skillfully orchestrated a captivating performance for P.S. 86 After-School students, highlighting the values of collaboration and community. Pentacle is proud to collaborate with RiseBoro Community Partnership in offering after-school dance instruction that incorporates positive youth development principles such as providing adult role models and empowerment.
Pentacle partners with RiseBoro Community Partnership for after-school arts education in Brooklyn public schools P.S. 86, I.S. 349, and I.S. 562.
LEAH’S 5TH YEAR 🎉 WITH URBAN ASSEMBLY SCHOOL FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
In her 5th year of instruction at Urban Assembly School for the Performing Arts, Teaching Artist, Leah Smiley Tubbs, teaches a weekly ballet class to high school students in Ms. Angela Reid’s dance class.
When asked about her improvements in ballet class, one senior ballet student says, “In the beginning, doing floor work was difficult and didn’t process in my head. Now ‘the gears are turning,’ as Leah [Teaching Artist] says.”
Dancers diligently honed their ballet fundamentals, terminology, and choreography in preparation for their Spring Dance Concert held this May. Bravo! We eagerly anticipate another exceptional year in the upcoming 2023-2024 academic year.
